Health


Please find below a list of vaccinations that you may require beofre traveling to Ghana, Africa:
  • Yellow fever vaccination
    You must obtain a yellow fever document from your doctor before traveling to Ghana.
  • Typhoid
  • Malaria medication
  • Hepatitis B vaccination
  • Hepatitis A vaccination


    Please note that before getting any medication or vaccination, you must first speak to your doctor. He/she will advice you as to the best form of vaccination, medication or prescription drugs to bring. Information provided here is solely to give you an idea of what form of medication and vaccination your doctor might advice you to get.

Other health items you may need:

  • Anti bacteria hand wipes
  • Mosquito net (double bed sized)

Flight

You must book your flight to arrive at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana, Africa. Before obtaining your visa, you must book your flight.This is important as you must enter your flight information in the itinerary column on your visa form.

Visa

  • You are required to obtain a visa from the Ghana Embassy or the Ghana High Commission in your country (or a nearby country where you can find the Ghana Embassy or the Ghana High Commission)  before traveling to Ghana.

    Once your placement has been confirmed, we will send you the appropriate information on how to obtain your visa in your country.

    Quick tips:

    Before applying for your visa, you must get the following ready

  • Your flight information
  • Your recent passport photographs
  • Invitational letter and references which we will send to you
  • Your passport

    Visas are valid for three months starting from the date of issue. It can be renewed once you are in Ghana.

Program Fee

  • There is a cost to lodging, food etc that you must pay or fund-raise to pay.
  • You pay the program fee after securing your visa. When you are ready to make payment, let us know and we shall send you information on how you can make payment. 
  • Information on the program fee can be read on each program or project page.

Medical/Travel Insurance

You must purchase your travel or medical insurance before traveling to Ghana. You must send us a copy of your travel or medical insurance once you have purchased it.
