Though the trip lasted a week, it was an impact-oriented and a rewarding experience for both the Orsingers and the children they helped.
Michel and Chris Orsinger (father and son) volunteered in Ghana from April 3 to 11, 2009. Their trip to Ghana took them to Kpando, Ho and Denu. In Kpando, they visited the Bishop Forson School (a school supported by Pagus Africa) – in Ho, they visited hospitals and embarked on some sight-seeing tours through the Ho Central Market and other places of interest – in Denu they taught Geography and French.
The Orsingers donated a set of items to the children in Denu and the Bishop Forson School. The items include soccer balls, torches, toothpaste, soaps, bandages, clothes, sneakers, medical creams, books, bag packs, frisbee, pens, balloons and plastic folders.
After being presented with certificates of appreciation, the Orsingers made an IBM ThinkPad donation to hwi to strengthen the organization’s communication machinery. Through that donation, hwi has set up an internet communication account for easy communication with volunteers over the internet.
