Erica Hemenway ('06)
My time in Mexico lasted longer than I expected because I worked with a team setting up an eco-tourism project in their village. It was a very good learning experience for me – but was nothing compared to my time in Ghana.
The month I spent in Ghana passed so quickly and yet when I remember what I saw – what I experienced - and what I learned, I cannot believe I wasn’t there longer. I think back often to my children in Adaklu-Wumenu and at New Nation School in Accra.
Over and over, I tell people about my wonderful experience.
My experience at the Cape Coast Castle has shaped the way I see even my own country. Everywhere I go, I tell people about my time in Ghana and how deeply everyone of the people I was so fortunate to meet has touched my heart so deeply.
I am sending my regards to everyone and that I miss you all so much. And to you Paul Badasu, Dorothy and Auntie Mabel, I am still eternally grateful for your hospitality and for how loved and welcome you made me feel in Ghana.
