Apart from our ongoing projects, we have provided volunteers or interns the option of undertaking tailormade projects that marches their interests and skills.

Before you arrive

Before you arrive, we would be in constant touch with you – answering your questions about your volunteer or internship project – lodging and other concerns.

During volunteership or internship

From start to finish of your volunteer or internship work, we are always available to give you the needed support. We have on field contact persons at all locations ready to offer you any assistance.

After departure

We ensure that your relationship with us continue after you are gone. We answer your mails  and ensure that we keep you updated about developments in the organization; especially about our projects.

Commitment to Safety and Health

The safety and health of all our volunteers is our top priority.

Our project locations are carefully selected; making sure that volunteers and interns are sent to safe places. Ghana is, however, generally peaceful.

The HWI headquarters and all residences are situated in safe and clean neighborhoods. The HWI headquarters is right in the middle of a local residential area populated with schools, within walking distance to the District Police Headquarters, and a 10 minutes drive from a hospital. Volunteer placements in other parts of Ghana are also situated in clean residences near hospitals and police stations.

HWI is committed to providing top notch sanitary living conditions. We provide clean running water 24/7, an indoor shower, flushing sitting toilet, a bathroom and 2 washing machines. All drinking water comes in sterilized sachets from recognized water companies, and food is prepared in our own kitchen by our own cook.

All volunteers will also receive comprehensive pre-travel support. HWI has years of experience with regards to the required immunizations and best travel insurance packages. We have provided much information on our website in the resources tab, and we will be happy to answer any other queries that you may have.

Here at HWI we are dedicated to meeting your needs. You have the control to customize your experience.

You will be interacting directly with us. There is no red tape; every request will be addressed swiftly and directly.

All volunteer and internship programs will be designed with your expertise and preferences in mind. You will have direct control over the activities you want to do. In addition, you get to choose where you want to go for tours. HWI will guide you with our local expertise but the power is in your hands to shape your experience.
